About Geotab
Geotab is the third major ELD/telematics platform in North America, distinct from Samsara and Motive in two ways: (1) it's primarily distributed through a reseller channel rather than direct sales, and (2) it serves a heavily mixed-fleet customer base — utility, government, construction, last-mile — alongside trucking. Carriers using Geotab tend to be either larger enterprises that standardized on it across mixed assets, or carriers whose insurance broker / parent fleet program put them on it. Geotab's MyGeotab platform exposes a strong SDK and a Marketplace of vetted add-ins. For trucking-only TMS, Geotab support is less universal than Samsara/Motive.
Why this integration matters for carriers
For carriers already standardized on Geotab — often mixed-fleet operations or carriers whose corporate parent mandated it — Geotab support in a TMS is a hard requirement; switching ELDs at scale is a non-starter. Operationally, Geotab integrations give the same dispatch-board benefits: live GPS for ETA and detention defense, HOS visibility for legal dispatch, and (less commonly than Samsara/Motive) a path to push dispatch to drivers via the Geotab Drive app. Without integration, dispatchers run MyGeotab in a second tab and re-key arrival/departure times — a real productivity tax at scale. Many carriers also use Geotab data for compliance/audit reporting, which a deeper integration can wire into TMS workflows.
The integration matrix
Each cell below was verified against either the TMS vendor's integrations page or the Geotab Marketplace. ITS Dispatch is the one explicit "no" — multiple May-2025 Capterra reviewers report Geotab support was dropped.
| TMS | Score | Geotab integration | Source / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Truckbase | 96/100 | Listed | Truckbase integrations — Listed among ELD partners; depth narrower than Samsara/Motive — verify in demo |
| AscendTMS | 92/100 | Unverified | Geotab not specifically confirmed on AscendTMS integrations page |
| Rose Rocket | 91/100 | Native | Geotab Marketplace · Rose Rocket — 15-minute location update cadence per vendor docs |
| Alvys | 90/100 | Native | Alvys integrations — Geotab listed alongside Samsara, Motive |
| McLeod LoadMaster | 88/100 | Native | Geotab Marketplace · McLeod LoadMaster — Long-running connector for enterprise mixed-fleet carriers |
| Trimble TMW.Suite | 87/100 | Listed | Supported through Trimble enterprise telematics framework; common in mixed-fleet carriers |
| Tailwind TMS | 85/100 | Unverified | Vendor lists Samsara only; Geotab not confirmed |
| Axon Software | 84/100 | Native | Axon ELD integrations — Axon is an authorized Geotab reseller |
| PCS TMS | 82/100 | Native | PCS Software integrations — Listed as a primary telematics partner |
| ITS Dispatch | 78/100 | Not supported | Multiple Capterra reviewers report Geotab support was dropped as of 2025 |
What to pressure-test in a demo
- Marketplace add-in vs. direct API integration. Marketplace add-ins are easier to onboard but more limited. Direct SDK integrations get more depth but require more vendor maintenance.
- Driver-side dispatch. Geotab Drive is less commonly used as a dispatch-target app than Samsara/Motive. If you need dispatch-to-driver, ask specifically.
- Reseller fragmentation. Geotab's reseller channel means data fields and sometimes available endpoints can vary by reseller plan. Confirm your specific Geotab contract supports the API surface the TMS needs.
- HOS in Geotab. Not all Geotab fleets use Geotab for HOS (some use it GPS-only with another ELD). Confirm what data you actually have to share.
- If you're considering ITS Dispatch — don't, on Geotab. ITS dropped Geotab in 2025 per reviewers; this is the one cell where the matrix gives you a real disqualifier.
